While I continue to work on my personal web projects and their revenue earning potential, I’m available, on short notice, for paying work. That work could be short-term, long-term or permanent, and could be contract, part-time or full-time.

Blogging

What I’ve done

I started blogging four and a half years ago, before it was cool. Since then, I’ve maintained several successful blogs with substantial audiences, including The Map Room and DFL.

What I can do for you

I can offer advice on how a blog can fit into your business or organization, and how to go about doing it. I can help with Blogger and Movable Type installations (and I’m learning WordPress, too) — everything to get you up, running and blogging, save for the blogging itself (I have no time left for that).

Editing and Proofreading

What I’ve done

I’ve edited newsletters and copyedited federal statutes and regulations.

What I can do for you

Proofreading, copyediting and correcting your grammar. Not only am I great at catching typos, but I can offer advice on style, clarity and effective communications.

Writing

What I’ve done

I’ve worked as a reporter and have written briefing notes and materials for senior government officials, how-to articles for hobbyists, presentations and promotional literature. I’ve got a very distinctive writing style that has been popular with my readers, both online and in print. I’m also good at taking complicated or technical material and rendering it in simple terms, resulting in anything from popular science articles to concise briefing notes. I can take complicated material and render it in understandable terms, and I can do it in an environment where fast, clear and effective writing is a priority.

Web Design

I’m more a web writer than a web designer, but I have built the odd web site here and there. My skills would be best suited for small, cottage or hobby businesses — for example, small-scale model manufacturers or exotic animal breeders — that have neither the need for a large site, nor the funds to pay for one.

I hope to have something more descriptive in the future, but in the meantime, visit my web design portfolio for samples.
